End of Course (EOC) testing for Algebra 1 is scheduled for Wednesday, May 17th at 10:00 at Sandhills Middle School. EOC scores will count 20% of the student’s final Algebra 1 grade. In order to experience successful testing, it’s important for students to have a feeling of well-being and self-confidence.  Please help with this by ensuring that your child:

  • Gets plenty of rest on the night before testing.

  • Arrives at school on time.  This means that the children should be ready for the day no later than 7:50.

  • Does not bring any electronic devices that can be used for communicating, timing, or imaging such as cell phones, gaming devices, e-readers, and cameras.  If a student has one of these devices in the testing location, it must be turned off and will be collected by your child’s teacher to be returned to a parent after testing is completed in his/her class.

  • Does not have doctor’s appointments scheduled during testing days. If your child has a dentist and/or doctor appointment on any testing days, please reschedule for a later time.

The calculator policy is set by the state for EOC. The online system provides students with a built-in calculator to use during testing. Use of handheld four-function, scientific, or graphing calculators is permitted but must meet certain criteria (no built-in computer algebra systems; no handheld, tablet, or laptop computers; no wireless or Bluetooth capability; no electronic writing pads or pen input device; no calculators built into cell phones or other electronic device). It is strongly recommended that you use the built-in calculator for testing. If you would like to use your own hand-held calculator, please see your Algebra teacher prior to the day of testing to see if it meets the criteria.

It is important for parents to help their children keep a positive attitude about testing.  Encourage your child to do well without pressuring him/her.  Please contact the office at Sandhills Middle School with any questions or concerns. Thank you for assisting us in making this a successful testing experience for all!
