8th Grade Gala

Our Gala Dance will be held Friday, May 25, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm (sharp).  Tickets go on sale Friday, May 18, they are $10.00.  The dress is semi-formal - dress slacks and ties for our gentlemen, knee-length dresses are appropriate for our ladies. Attire must meet our school dress code (no strapless or spaghetti strap dresses without a cover-up, please).  This dance is open to all SMS 8th graders only.  It is not a prom but a less formal dance to celebrate the end of the middle school years and the start of high school.  Refreshments will be served.

Spring Registration for the 2012 – 2013 school year will be held  April 16 – 30 in the SMS office.  You must have 2 proofs of residency in order to register.

 

Palmetto Silver

The Palmetto Silver award recognizes schools for academic performance and closing achievement gaps between groups of students.  The award was created by the South Carolina General Assembly. The state's Education Oversight Committee establishes the awards' criteria and the State Department of Education determines the winners.

2012-2013 SMS Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Caitlin Sandroni the  new 2012-2013 SMS  teacher of the year.  The Teacher of the Year program celebrates excellence and strengthens the teaching force by honoring and recognizing exceptional teachers at the district level. Below you will find a brief biography of the teacher that was chosen.

Caitlin Sandroni has worked as a physical educator in Lexington School District Four since 2007.  She graduated from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. Along with a teaching degree she has a minor in Aquatics from SRU.  She was a Division II NCAA athlete during her time at SRU in the sport of volleyball. She is still actively involved in many activities including volleyball, softball and ice hockey. During her time in Lexington Four and at Sandhills Middle, Caitlin has served on the District Advisory Cabinet, School Improvement Council, School Leadership and Accountability Team, School Safety Team, and SMS Tiger Pride Team which coordinates student incentives.  Mrs. Sandroni also trains Lexington Four employees in crisis intervention as a trained instructor of the Crisis Prevention Institute and is the head coach for Swansea High Junior Varsity softball and volleyball.
